Itinerary
Setting off from Stornoway, you’ll travel across the Isle of Lewis to the parish of Ness and the charming little harbour of Port Ness. The community is a stronghold of the Gaelic language and has the highest percentage of Gaelic speakers in the country. For generations, Ness has been home to many seafarers – the main industry - which are celebrated in the work of local artists. Enjoy some free time around the harbour area and visit the Harbour View Gallery to admire some of the art pieces.
Our tour then continues for the short drive from Ness is the uniquely t-shaped church of St. Moluag. Age is unknown, but historians estimate a date range of between 1100 to the 1500’s. Explore the small church and discover its history and how it was once a centre for pilgrimage by those seeking healing. There is no entrance fee, however Your Shore Time makes a donation to the church in support of the upkeep.
Afterwards, another short drive will take you to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse, which is set in a stunning location. It was built in 1862 by the Stevenson brothers and unlike many other Scottish lighthouses it is built from red brick
Enjoy some time here as this is a perfect location for a photo opportunity especially the exterior of the lighthouse and take in the lovely views out to sea.

Scenic and enriching tour
It was not a smooth start: difficult to locate the guide, could not find the guide with a blue jacket from 'Your shore time'. We were not the only one. 12 people missed the tour! So it is really a proof that the organisation can be much better. Besides that it was a pleasant tour with interesting stops and enriching commentary on the way. And a very good driver on the small and curvy roads. If there would not have been the confusion at the start, we would have rated this tour 5 stars.
Giants Causeway
This was a good tour, however we didn't have enough time and had to skip the whiskey distillery. That was quite disappointing.
Giants causeway small group tour
This was a fantastic smaller bus tour (about 16). Sean Harper was our guide and driver. He was amazing. He showed us more than what we had planned on seeing. He was funny and informative! I highly recommend this tour. Sean was a superstar!!!!
Giants Causeway tour from cruise ship with Sean
We had Sean as our driver and guide. He was fantastic! Just the right balance of funny and informative without being over the top. He added stops that I didn’t expect, but we enjoyed. The North Irish countryside and coast is gorgeous. The best stop was Giants Causeway. We didn’t purchase tickets to the visitor center, and I don’t believe we missed anything. You can enter the causeway for free, by walking through the square opening just to the right of the visitors center. There are public toilets available near the hotel. It’s a steep downhill trek to get to the causeway. It’s a beautiful walk. There’s also a tram that will take you down or bring you back for a $1. The causeway is amazing. We enjoyed climbing and exploring it. My sons (19 and 20) really went far. The only thing I wish is that we had a little more time to be at the Causeway. But, Sean got us back in time to board our cruise which was most important!! This was a very nice excursion, great guide, and worth every penny. Or pound, I should say!
Tour got canceled and we...
Tour got canceled and we were not aware of it. They said they emailed us, but it never came through. However, they were very helpful in reimbursing us.
