Full description

The closest you’ll get to cooking like a local in San Sebastián, this intimate experience takes place in Gros — the seaside neighborhood where residents actually eat, gather, and unwind. In this hands-on experience, a professional chef will guide you through creating an aperitivo and four beloved Basque dishes. You’ll come away from your San Sebastian cooking class with a better understanding of the city's culture and the role food plays in it—plus a handy repertoire of new recipes to impress your family and friends back home.

It’s no secret that San Sebastian is one of the top destinations in Europe (and the world!) for food lovers. This San Sebastian cooking class will help you experience Basque cuisine in a way that few other visitors to the city can claim. In just two and a half hours, we’ll take you behind closed doors and into the heart of the local food scene, where you’ll learn the recipes and techniques that make Basque cuisine one of the world’s most cherished gastronomic traditions.

Just steps from the beach and away from the crowds of the Old Town, you’ll step inside a professional kitchen opened exclusively for us. In this relaxed yet immersive setting, a dedicated Basque chef will guide you through preparing an aperitivo and four beloved regional dishes, sharing the techniques, traditions, and cultural context that define the cuisine.

Over the next two and a half hours, you’ll whip up Gilda pintxos, Spain’s famous potato omelet, and the iconic burnt Basque cheesecake for dessert. As the chef shows you the techniques involved in bringing each dish to life, your guide will share the stories behind the recipes that will help you appreciate every bite even more.

Of course, you’ll also have time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, pairing each dish with a carefully selected drink: Basque cider (which you’ll learn how to pour yourself!), red and white wine.

By the time your San Sebastian cooking class comes to an end, you’ll be full, happy, and have plenty of time left to explore all that the city has to offer. You'll even get to take your apron home to use in your own kitchen. And of course, you’ll have some impressive new recipes and cooking techniques under your belt that will prove useful for years to come.
