Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark - The Complete Guide to Dubai's Biggest Water Adventure
Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark, now also branded as Aquaventure World, sits inside the world famous Atlantis The Palm resort on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. It first opened in 2008 and has grown many times since then. Today it is known as one of the largest waterparks in the world, spread across 170,000 square metres, with over 105 record breaking slides, rides and attractions. Whether you want heart pounding thrills or a calm day by the water, this park has something for everyone in the family.
A Brief Background
The park was designed to bring the story of the lost city of Atlantis to life. It was built in one large phase, unlike its sister resort in the Bahamas which took over 15 years and three phases. Since opening, Aquaventure has kept expanding, adding new towers, slides and record breaking attractions, and the 2023 expansion added even more world record rides through the new Trident Tower.
Main Zones of the Park
The waterpark is divided into different zones, each with its own theme and rides.
Tower of Neptune is home to the Leap of Faith, Aquaconda and the Zoomerango family coaster.
Tower of Poseidon includes Poseidon's Revenge, the Slitherine twin racing slide, and several enclosed flume rides.
Trident Tower is the newest zone, added in the 2023 expansion, featuring several world record slides.
Splashers Island is a dedicated children's zone with smaller slides and water play areas.
Atlas Village offers a relaxed area with shopping, dining and calmer attractions.
The park also has the Torrent River, said to be the longest river rapids ride in the Middle East at around 1.6 to 2.3 kilometres, a lazy river, a wave pool, and a private beach stretching close to a kilometre along the coast.
The Star Attractions
Leap of Faith is the park's most iconic slide. It is a near vertical drop of about 27 metres, roughly the height of a nine storey building, sending riders through a clear acrylic tunnel that passes straight through a lagoon filled with real sharks and rays. It remains the most popular and most photographed ride in the park.
Poseidon's Revenge is one of the most extreme slides at Aquaventure. Riders stand on a trapdoor that suddenly opens beneath their feet, sending them into a near vertical free fall of around 20 to 31 metres, reaching speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour, before looping through a tube and splashing into a pool.
Aquaconda is known as the world's largest six person tube slide. Riders climb into a big inflatable raft with family or friends and are pulled through a dark, twisting tunnel before ending in a giant funnel and a big splash.
Zoomerango gives riders a weightless, roller coaster like sensation. It sends a six person raft down a steep drop and then up a huge vertical wall, back and forth, for a thrilling zero gravity feeling.
Slitherine is described as the world's first twin racing water slide within a slide. Two riders race each other side by side through twisting, dark tunnels to see who reaches the bottom first.
Odyssey of Terror is one of the tallest and most intense slides in the park, recommended for those who have already tried Leap of Faith and Poseidon's Revenge and want an even bigger thrill.
Shark Attack is a family friendly raft ride that takes riders through a dark tunnel before opening up into a tube surrounded by sharks, giving a safe but exciting close encounter with marine life.
The Torrent River rapids ride takes tubers on a long, winding journey through waves, waterfalls, tunnels and canyons that stretch across almost the entire park.
For Younger Visitors
Splashers Island is built specially for children, with smaller slides, climbing structures, water cannons and shallow splash pools so kids can enjoy the fun safely. There are also calmer lagoons and coves in this zone that have no height restrictions at all, making them suitable for toddlers and very young children.
Height and Safety Rules
Most of the major thrill slides such as Leap of Faith, Odyssey of Terror and the Trident Tower slides require a minimum height of about 1.2 metres, which is 48 inches. Some rides in the Neptune Tower, including Aquaconda, Zoomerango and Slitherine, allow riders from 1.07 metres, which is 42 inches, if they are with an adult. Splashers Island generally requires a minimum height of around 1 metre, while Splashers Lagoon and Cove have no height limit at all. Height is always measured by park staff at the entrance to each ride, so it is a good idea to measure your child at home before visiting if they are close to the limit.
Children under the age of 12 must always be accompanied by an adult throughout the park. If a child wants to enter the park without an adult, they must be at least 12 or 13 years old, depending on current park policy.
Lifejackets are required for all swimmers under 1.2 metres and are recommended for anyone, of any age, who is a weak or inexperienced swimmer. Lifejackets are provided free of charge at the park.
Beyond the Waterpark
Aquaventure is only one part of the wider Atlantis The Palm experience. The resort is also home to The Lost Chambers Aquarium, Dolphin Bay and Sea Lion Point.
The Lost Chambers Aquarium is designed to look like the ruins of the lost city of Atlantis. It holds more than 21 exhibits and 14 unique water chambers, with over 65,000 fish and marine animals living in more than 11 million litres of water. Visitors can also talk to shark specialists and marine guides who explain more about the creatures living there.
Dolphin Bay is one of the largest man made dolphin habitats in the world, where guests can watch, swim with or interact with dolphins through separate bookable experiences.
Sea Lion Point offers a chance to get close to playful sea lions in a dedicated habitat.
Entry to the aquarium and Dolphin Bay is separate from the waterpark ticket, but combo tickets are available that let guests enjoy more than one attraction in a single visit.
Dining and Shopping
The park has a wide range of food and drink options spread across its zones, so guests do not need to leave the park to eat. Popular spots include Barracudas for pizza, pasta, burgers and salads with both indoor and shaded outdoor seating, Snappers for cakes, pastries and coffee, Shark Bites for Arabic cuisine and fast food, along with other outlets like Dosa Factory, Asia Republic Express and Rooster 66. Kiosks around the park called Lagoons, Waves and Splashers sell soft drinks, ice cream, fresh fruit, sandwiches, hot dogs and shawarma for a quick bite between rides. There are also souvenir shops and kiosks selling beach essentials, toys and Aquaventure branded merchandise.
Seating and Premium Options
For guests who want extra comfort, Aquaventure offers several upgrade options. Shaded seating areas are available throughout the park at no extra cost, but guests can also rent private cabanas in different sizes, from medium to large, extra large and family sized. Premium seating areas such as Neptune's Retreat come with sunbeds, drinks and other services. VIP cabanas offer a private and luxurious space with personalised service, comfortable seating, shade, food and beverage options, lockers and secure storage, ideal for families or groups who want to relax away from the crowds between rides.
Guests who do not want to wait in long queues can also purchase the AquaXpress fast pass, which gives priority access to the rides so more time can be spent sliding and less time standing in line.
Park Timings
The waterpark is open every single day of the year. Current timings are Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. It is a good idea to check the official website before visiting since hours can shift slightly with the seasons.
Ticket Categories
Tickets are generally split into three categories based on age. Adults are considered to be guests aged 8 years and above. Children are those aged between 3 and 7 years. Children below the age of 3 usually enter free of charge. Prices themselves vary depending on the season, the day of the week, and whether add ons like the aquarium, dolphin experiences, towel service or lockers are included. Guests staying at Atlantis The Palm resort also receive complimentary waterpark entry for every night of their stay.
Best Time to Visit
Many visitors recommend going on weekdays, especially Tuesday to Thursday mornings, to avoid the busiest weekend crowds. Arriving right at opening time is one of the best ways to enjoy the most popular slides with little to no waiting. Cooler months from around November to April are considered the most comfortable time of year to visit, though the park remains open and enjoyable throughout the summer as well thanks to plenty of water to cool off in.
Good to Know Before You Visit
Arrive at least 15 minutes before your entry time to avoid delays at the gate.
Guests staying at Atlantis Resort get free waterpark access for every night of their stay.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times throughout the park.
Guests should change into proper swimwear before entering the water.
Outside food, drinks and alcohol are not allowed inside the park.
Some rides may occasionally be closed due to technical maintenance, which is beyond the park's control.
Some zones and rides have age or height restrictions in place purely for guest safety.

Why Aquaventure Stands Out
What truly sets Atlantis Aquaventure apart from other waterparks is its combination of scale, storytelling and record breaking engineering. It is not just a collection of slides, but a fully themed water world built around the legend of Atlantis, featuring real marine life integrated directly into some of its most famous rides. From the shark filled tunnel of the Leap of Faith to the near weightless drop of Poseidon's Revenge, and from a private beach on the Arabian Gulf to a dedicated children's play island, the park manages to offer something meaningful for thrill seekers, families and relaxation seekers all in one place. Combined with its aquarium, dolphin experiences, wide dining choices and premium cabana options, Aquaventure continues to be one of the most complete and talked about waterpark destinations anywhere in the world.
