Itinerary
Pass by: You'll pass through one of the most storied corners of the ancient world, the Parthenon watching from above, the cobblestone streets below walked for thousands of years. History here isn't in a museum; it's right outside the window.
Pass by: Just steps from the ancient sites, Koukaki has quietly become Athens' most interesting neighborhood, laid-back, gentrified, full of locals who actually live here.
Family-run pastry shop, we’ll enjoy Greece’s favorite iced coffee, Freddo Espresso or Freddo Cappuccino, paired with “Trigona Panoramatos,” crispy triangles made of baklava phyllo dough soaked in syrup, filled with airy cream.
At this cozy family-run spot, you may get the change to watch handmade phyllo pies crafted from scratch. Choose yours from cheese, chicken, spinach, and more!
At this charming deli-style grocery, we’ll taste a charcuterie board with Greek cheeses, cold cuts, olives, and fresh bread, paired with unlimited tsipouro (greek spirit) and a glass of wine. To finish, Greek yogurt with honey.
Visit this small, family-run spot known for some of the best handmade gyros and kebabs in the city. Fresh pita bread is baked daily. Enjoy a wrap with gyro (pork, chicken, or vegetarian) paired with a small Greek beer.
Stop at one of the few places in Athens that still makes traditional Greek donuts. Crispy on the outside, soft inside, topped with honey and cinnamon or chocolate. The lively, youthful atmosphere makes this sweet stop especially welcoming.

A Culinary Masterpiece in Athens: Eating Europe Does It Again!
Our walking food tour in Athens, Greece, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, was another outstanding experience with Eating Europe. This was our second tour with them, and once again, they exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Christina, was absolutely amazing. Her extensive knowledge of Athens, its history, culture, and local traditions made every stop along the tour interesting and engaging. She introduced us to so many delicious local foods and beverages while sharing the stories behind them, making each tasting even more enjoyable. Beyond her knowledge, Christina’s warm personality and enthusiasm made spending a few hours with her an absolute pleasure. She helped us experience Athens in a way we never could have on our own, and it became one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re planning a visit to Athens and are looking for a memorable food tour, we highly recommend Eating Europe. And if you’re lucky enough to have Christina as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic experience!
Great way to taste Athens!
Barbara was an excellent guide, very engaging. We ate quite a variety of delicious Athenian food (definitely come hungry!), there were two other people on the tour so we were swapping stories - Greek, German, Australian which made it even more fun! Highly recommend if you want an overview of Greek food and some of Athens little streets.
Amazing!
Amazing food, locations and guide. Thanks to Barbara
Private Athens tour
Our private tour with Orestes was a wonderful. The food stops were an easy walk apart, and were all unique. He gave us great detail and background about the neighborhoods and food we were sampling. He made sure that all food sensitivities were accommodated, which was very appreciated.
