Traveler reviews
Amazing knowledge from our tour guide!
The tour started a little unorganized as we arrived all on different busses at Key Tour’s office (on a narrow, minimal parking street), and a few people did not arrive on time. It appeared that the supervisor gave our guide a “talking to”and he seemed frazzled until we finally departed! Our guide studied archeology and had worked for over 3 years. I believe his name was Costa???! He was EXCELLENT!!! He always had a very good answer for all of the questions and knew so much!! Three ladies in the tour struggled with the stairs and uneven ground. It is not a tour for people with minimal mobility! Over 150 stairs up and marble stairs and rocks are up at the Acropolis! Also, good footwear is highly recommended! No sandals! The Acropolis and Pentathlon are amazing! We were signed up for the museum as well, but somehow that was mixed up and we ended up paying again as we opted in to the tour as Costa was so amazing! (I am going to contact Key Tours!). The museum is gorgeous!!!!!! There is so much to see!! Highly recommended!! The headphones are so nice to have as you can hear your tour guide from far away. So great!!!
Absolute Terrible Experience, Avoid at All Costs
Absolute Terrible Experience, Avoid at All Costs I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Key tours company, and I strongly urge others not to book any tours with them. On 17th March, I booked a Full-Day Tour with this company. There was a taxi strike in Athens, and as a first-time traveler to Greece, I had no prior knowledge of this situation. My hotel was quite far from the meeting point. I immediately called the tour company and explained my situation. I was begging them to wait a few minutes while I tried to find a way to get there. The woman I spoke to promised me they would wait. With no taxis available, I had no choice but to walk 2 km on foot to reach the meeting point. When I finally arrived, they told me that the bus had already left without me. To make matters worse, they marked me as a “no show” and refused to give any refund (I paid GBP 73), claiming it was entirely my responsibility. This is completely unacceptable, especially after they explicitly told me they would wait. This company clearly does not care about customers or basic human consideration. They only care about taking your money and offering zero support when things go wrong. Avoid this company at all costs. Do not waste your money or risk ruining your trip.
Port to Office?
The tour itself was good, walking from Key Tours office. But we did not expect to be shuttled from the port to the tour office to wait for others to join. The steps ate slippery and uneven. Be careful, lots of renovations/ restoration going on, but lots to see! Overall, disappointed that we spent lots of our precious port time waiting in the office or on a bus back
Terrible. Terrible tour company. Save yourselves the money, you’re better off doing it by yourselves.
Probably the worst most unprofessional tour company I’ve ever encountered. The tour was set to start at 9:00 am. No one was waiting for us at the cruise terminal and when we exited the ship we realized the meeting point was a half hour away even though the tour stated that they would pick us up at the cruise terminal. After two long distance phone calls ( we have American phone plans) where they asked me to send them an email explaining what my problem was they told us they would send someone. No one greeted us or even said good morning. The driver of the van took us into Athens where we waited an hour for the tour to start. The guide was unshaven, unclean and wearing stained clothes, I asked him to slow down as he was talking so fast and rushing the explanation of the acropolis. The tour lasted all of an hour and 30 minutes. The guide then proceeded to collect our audio equipment and left us in the middle of the acropolis and left us to return by ourselves to the tour agency. We finished at 11:34 am. This was supposed to be a five and a half hour tour and all we got was waiting and an hour and a half of the Parthenon. We did not see the whole thing just the Parthenon and the ruins leading up to it. We did not get a full tour as the sanctuary of Artemis, the Erechtheion,, the porch of the Caryathids, the Propylaea, Agrippa, the Agora, nothing was included in the “tour” .
Stay away
Although we booked tickets for the Acropolis, we were not allowed to enter the site. The guards at the entrance told us that the Keytour offices were not far and that we should go there for assistance. When we arrived at the offices, we were completely ignored and treated very aggressively. In the end, we were left without tickets and without a refund. Strongly recommend staying away
