Traveler reviews
Impressively executed walking tour for such a sensitive topic
My wife and I very much enjoyed this walking tour provided by Ollie, a young man formerly of the UK, who now makes Amsterdam his home. It’s a challenging topic as there are a number of sad passages, albeit interspersed with heroism, stealth, and unflinching hope. Ollie sustained our attention with his in-depth knowledge of the Frank family, and the clever steps taken to go into hiding and evade deportation for quite some time. He executes this with outmost respect for this sensitive topic. Ollie also shared extensive knowledge about Anne Frank, including her aspirations to become an accomplished writer independently of the topic of the war, and the unexpected need to go into hiding. How several versions of the book concerning her diary came into publication and gained widespread readership is a standalone topic of interest. Having both read the book as part of our school curriculum many years ago, we appreciated understanding the bigger picture.
