Itinerary
Check out the Mae Khlong Railway Market, it’s located right on top of a railway line, and trains run right through the market a few times per day. Suddenly a train approaches as the market literally folds away and lets the train pass through. Then, in a matter of seconds, it unfolds back into a busy market. The duration of attraction included traveling time from Bangkok to Maeklong.
Visit Wat Bang Kung, one of the most iconic. Having been engulfed by the roots and branches of large banyan trees over the course of several centuries the temple provides a seamless combination of natural beauty and serene spiritualism.
Amphawa Market is a vibrant and colorful market. It’s become such a magnet for Bangkokians during weekends that food stalls have grown from the riverbanks and stretched far into the surrounding streets. Visitors can delight in a myriad of authentic Thai flavors, culture and sights as they explore the local items for sale and chat with the friendly locals. Along each side of the canal, old charming wooden shops sell everything from traditional handicraft souvenirs to delicious street food. As the sky darkens, we embark on a firefly boat ride through the tranquil waterways surrounding the market. While the firefly boat rides can be enjoyed any evening, they are particularly magical during the dry season. Amphawa offers visitors a real unique and memorable experience! NOTE: Don't expect countless vendors in boats at Amphawa Market; this market is more like a canal-side market. The duration of attraction included travelling time from Amphawa back to Bangkok.

Good to know
- We visit an ancient temple during this tour. Remember that temples are sacred places and you must dress appropriately. Shoulders and knees need to be covered.
- Don't expect countless vendors in boats at Amphawa Market; this market is more like a canal-side market. In Thai, these markets are called “talat nam” which literally means “water market”, but is translated to English as “floating market”. Of course, there are some vendors on small wooden boats that cook and sell their food to visitors. But you will mostly find dozens of restaurants and food stalls along the canal serving delicious food and local delicacies. Amphawa Market is definitely worth visiting though. It is a very popular market among the locals because of all the delicious snacks and food that can be found there.
- As our tours run on a group basis, we can wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting time. After this grace period, the guide will begin the tour. If you cannot make it on time, please let us know before the tour starts. If possible, we’ll do our best to reschedule you for the next available day, though a rescheduling fee of THB 500 per person will apply. No refund will be provided in case of late arrival.
- Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour start time are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or in case of no-show, no refund will be issued.
- Our tours operate rain or shine, as tropical rain showers in Thailand usually don’t last long. If it rains heavily, we try to seek shelter and will continue as soon as the weather improves. During the rainy season, it’s a good idea to bring a raincoat or poncho. Please note cancellations due to weather are not eligible for a refund.
Traveler reviews
Friendly, informative
Piya, our tour guide, was so informative, enthusiastic and friendly. He definitely made the last day of our Thailand trip memorable and special.
The railway market is...
The railway market is worth seeing and the guide knows when to take you there. The floating market isn't on the canal anymore but on the canal bank which is still nice to see. As it is a long ride to the places you need a sociable guide, which Paul truly was.
Lights, locomotives and longtails.
Kitty (guide) and Jaroen (driver) were very engaging, accommodating and humorous. We were immersed in history, culture, natural beauty and delicious street food and throughly enjoyed our time with them. Highly recommend them both.
Good tour, long drive
I enjoyed the train market, the fireflies, the floating market and the really cool temple. Our guide Oui was very kind and accommodating to our needs. The drive there was long, and because of traffic and construction, we missed the 2:30 train and then waited for the 3:30. That was fine but it put us behind schedule. The floating market is on the sides of the river. There are not really any boats selling items to you on the river. It is not over crowded like the Damnoen Saduak market ( which is a tourist trap) so I liked it better. I also liked being there in the evening because it was cooler and we got to see the fireflies. The drive back was very long. The traffic was terrible. We didn’t get to our hotel until well after 11pm so it made for a long journey. I recommend this tour because it is more unique than the usual floating market tour, but just be warned that getting there and back is a long drive. A good option would be to stay the night there and make arrangements to come back the next day.
BUYER BEWARE- Not a real floating market.
The “floating market” description is completely misleading. It’s a market with stalls near the water NOT vendors selling food/goods from their boat. Six of the eight passengers on our trip specifically booked this tour expecting an actual floating market. It is also more than 4 hours round trip which wasn’t specified. We think it was a wasteful journey.
