Full description

Our Pompeii and Amalfi Coast tour from Rome combines two iconic Italian locations into a single, unforgettable day trip. Depart Rome in a comfortable private mini bus for a walking tour of Pompeii in the company of an expert archaeologist, who will show you all the highlights of this captivating relic of a city. Next, drive along the famed Amalfi Coast towards the lovely town of Positano, where idyllic landscapes of lemon trees and beaches await. Take time on your own to dip in the ocean, have lunch, shop for regional specialties, and waste the day away in true Italian style before a comfortable trip back to Rome.

A Day of Discovery: From Pompeii to the Amalfi Coast

Experience A City Frozen in Time
Explore 2,000-year-old streets and step into the ruins of houses, restaurants, temples, businesses, and brothels (if appropriate for the group). Your guide, an expert archaeologist, will tell you stories of the rise of this once-bustling city and its catastrophic demise after the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

 The Amalfi Coast Calls
After Pompeii, your guide and driver sweep you southward along one of the world’s most scenic drives. Your group of 18 people maximum fit comfortably on a private minibus, which means you'll drive straight down the coast to Positano without stopping to switch vehicles like the larger tour groups. With every curve, the views get better: limestone cliffs, lemon groves, candy-colored houses clinging to hillsides.

You'll arrive in the lovely town of Positano where plump lemons greet you and where you’ll have a few hours of free time to enjoy a leisurely lunch of fresh seafood, shop in fashionable boutiques, or even take a dip in the blue waters of the Bay of Naples (so don't forget to bring a swimsuit!). After an enchanting afternoon, you'll board your transport for the drive back to Rome, arriving in the city just in time for a late dinner.

Every Detail Handled So You Can Be Fully Present
This tour was designed for travelers who want to do go deeper. Your round-trip transport from Rome is seamless. Your guide is your storyteller, navigator, and local expert. Your entrance tickets are sorted. All you have to do is show up with curiosity and we’ll handle the rest.

Please note: In the low season (November through late March), most of the businesses in Positano town close, making the town rather uneventful to visit. During this time, we will visit Sorrento instead, where you'll have plenty of options for lunch and shopping.

The order of the itinerary may be reversed, with some tours visiting the Amalfi Coast in the morning and Pompeii in the afternoon. No matter where you go first, you'll still enjoy a relaxing and seamless day trip.
