Alaska Native cultures, natural wonders, and diverse wildlife. Discover 2,000 years of Alaska art. The museum's displays are the best summary to Alaska’s diverse wildlife, people, and lands. View original installations about Alaska's dinosaurs and the study made possible by their collections. Experience breathtaking architecture and views of the Alaska Range. This museum is as unique as the Arctic cultures we celebrate.
The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center is located on the banks of the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks. Named after an Alaska native and political leader, this community center celebrates native Alaskan culture and natural history through interesting exhibits, indigenous art and tools and life-sized panoramas depicting Alaska’s wildlife and landscapes throughout the seasons.

Best Heritage tour of Fairbanks
6:25 d • 心 100 Things to Do > Tours › Alaska Wild Lights Explore012 Santa Clara, California Fairbanks Heritage tour at its best! Review of Fairbanks Heritage & Sightseeing Tour •O• Pending review This was the biggest value for money for our short stay in Fairbanks! We booked this through Viator. Our tour guide Pepper was the best part of the tour - she shared a lot of info about the Alaskan history, the culture, and her local perspective on the lifestyle here. She took extra care for us in the tour to answer our son's questions on the weather, Northern lights and the pipeline. Highly recommend this for groups who are short on time or want a quick tour to get a taste of the Fairbanks experience in summer! Thank you Pepper for the memorable experience!
Nice way to see Fairbanks
We really enjoyed our tour in Fairbanks. I think our guide was Pepper, and she was really nice and knowledgeable. We only had the one day in Fairbanks, and we would not have been able to see everything we did on our own. I found the trip well paced, informational, and enjoyable.

Don't waste your money on the Heritage tour
We booked our tour six months ago and received a phone call the day prior as they didn't have enough people to go on the tour. They offered us a free upgrade on another tour but we weren't interested in that one so our tour was transferred to AK Bucket List. Gina, the owner was personable and told us there would be one other couple so we'd be in a 5 passenger SUV and we'd get an extended customized tour. Gina was not the tour guide. She had another tour operator, Kendall, give us the tour. He showed up in a small 5 passenger SUV. I was crammed in the middle seat. My husband who is 6'2" was behind the driver and had his knees crunched to his chest. We were told where we were going, how long we'd be at each spot, nothing was customized and we were done at 1:30, only a four hour tour, not five hours as booked. Additionally, Kendall seemed very disinterested in the tour. We felt it was a total waste of money and wished we rented a car and drove around on our own as nothing is very far and the information the guide gave we could have read, he even told us not to read anything because he was providing the same information. Additionally, we almost had an accident as he was driving fast and didn't realize the car in front of him was going to turn. I had to yell woah to alert him and he slammed on the brakes. Not a good tour at all.
Alaskan Heritage Tour of Fairbanks
Our tour guide was Pepper and she was a local. She was well versed and gave an excellent tour with background information and history through out the tour. We visited many locations around Fairbanks. We got to visit the actual town of North Pole which was very special. Pepper was very informative, friendly and patient. The tour was well paced and very interesting.
