Glad we went
We enjoyed seeing the animals at the conservation center. We had a beautiful sunny day and most of the animals were outside and moving around. The tour director/ van driver gave us lots of information, and stopped off a couple of times to view wildlife. It was an hours drive from Anchorage.
Great Day Trip South of Anchorage Highlights!
Brooks was an excellent tour guide — so knowledgeable. This was a great way to explore south of Anchorage!
Left Feeling a Bit Disappointed
I wasn't overly happy with this tour right from the word go. Our tour driver was friendly enough, but unfortunately not particularly engaging. He shared the bare minimum information and, although he made a few bonus stops along the way, he didn’t provide any history or point out interesting places or points of interest during the journey. It felt like there was a missed opportunity to make the journey itself part of the experience. The visit to the park itself was very rushed and I felt that we didn't get much time to explore the park at all. The actual wildlife park was quite sad and disappointing. Yes, you get to see the animals relatively close up, but they are behind wire fencing, and in some areas the fencing was so thick that you could barely see the animals, let alone take decent photographs. The beautiful wolf was particularly heartbreaking. He was in the distance and spent much of the time howling, seemingly because he was on his own. The brown bear/grizzly was also just pacing backwards and forwards along the fence line and looked incredibly sad. While the opportunity to see these animals up close was certainly memorable, I left feeling quite uncomfortable about their living conditions. For me, seeing wildlife should be an experience that leaves you feeling inspired and connected to nature, rather than wondering whether the animals are happy and well cared for. Overall, this was probably one of the more disappointing experiences of my trip.
Extremely Overpriced
Extremely over priced! Priced at the entrance is $30. Phone number don’t work. No one contact you until you trying to cancel it. Then they show up 1 hour late at the place they told us to meet. I never write bad reviews. I really hope no one gets scammed again! They are very rude people as well!!
Wonderful tour!
