8-Day Iceland Ring Road Adventure

We did the 8 day summer ring road tour with troll. I'll first start with the Guide Siggy - absolute gem of a person. Extremely warm and welcoming. He greets you with a smile and is very humorous. First 6 days went in a flash with him. He's very caring for all the guests, he makes sure every person is comfortable and his knowledge of the place is in depth. He tries to learn all the languages from the guests and that speaks a lot about how inclusive he is. His enthusiasm and energy is contagious. He made us play games and I even won a prize. He even showed us his farm. Very down to earth and a great human. 5/5 for him. His narration about a place makes it come alive! Now about the tour - 6 days is more than enough. They split 8 days into 6 plus 2. We were not informed by the company about the same. After 6 days of ring road, last two days are a drag and repetitive. - Hotel nordurland was a put off. The single rooms were congested and the bathroom is very very small. We paid 670 usd extra along with the tour cost for the single supplement fee. I'm sure we can get better room than the one at Nordurland and cramped up single rooms. -the wait time for other participants who have not opted for the optional activity is quite a bit. Especially if it's towards the end of the day, it gets very difficult to wait for 2 hours plus on a bus or in the open. Overall, 6 days is a good tour. I would have given them 4 stars but I'm giving 5 stars only coz of our guide Siggys exceptional service. Highlight are Glacier cave, jokulsarlon, whale watching, Akyureyri and Geysir.

Iceland was a bucket list item for me. I researched multiple tour groups and was most impressed with Troll. We booked the 8 day ring road tour. There were about 14-15 people on a 19 person bus. This allowed us a little space to spread out. The pickup was easy to find and the bus was able to accommodate our luggage. After everyone was picked up we were on our way. Every day was packed with multiple stops and sights to see. We were given some time at each stop to explore and take pictures. Our group was very good at being back at the bus at the expected time. This made it nicer for all of us since we didn’t have to wait all the time. Our driver, Gylfie (Gyl), was awesome and made the trip even better. He provided some history about Iceland and the sites we were visiting. He shared some of his personal adventures and trips on Iceland which provided more insight and background for us about Iceland. His personality and style gave the tour a personal touch, kind of like going on a trip where one of your good friends is the tour guide. My wife went with me and a couple of her friends as well. I was a little nervous they wouldn’t like the experience as much as I did, but it exceeded their expectations. In between stops while we were riding on the bus, I would constantly look out the windows and take in the sights, it is so beautiful if you like mountains and glaciers. One of the best trips I’ve ever taken. For accommodations each night, all we had to do was pick up the key and head to our room, then drop the key off in the morning. It was very easy. Our group was nice and we even had dinner together at some of our stops. It was great meeting people from all parts of the world. There were some optional add ons for the trip which we opted in for all of them. I would recommend this as well. All the extras were worth it. FYI, The meals in Iceland can get pretty pricey. It wasn’t uncommon to spend $30-40 on fish n chips or burger and fries per person. We did take a lot of snacks with us from the USA, and that worked out well to hold us over between meals. We spent a couple of nights in Reykavik before our tour started. What a beautiful progressive city. Also if you are hoping to see the Puffins, they start vacating Iceland mid August and are mostly gone by end of August. We just missed them, but we did get to see Northern Lights during our stay in Akureyri. I would definitely go back to Iceland

Our trip started out rocky. The airline had a mechanical issue. We where delayed by a day. Troll did a great job of accommodating our changes. Our guide was really helpful. He knew history of the island and stories. Max is a huge asset to your company. Your lucky to have someone who goes above and beyond to help your experience in Iceland everything it could be and more!

Our recent 8 days Iceland ring route with the Snæfellsnes Peninsula tour by Troll was definitely amazing and unforgettable! Our tour guide Gylfi Thorisson handled the entire itinerary flawlessly. My husband and I didn't have to worry about a single logistical detail. Gylfi in Troll wasn’t just a tour guide; he felt like a trusted friend showing us around his beautiful country Iceland. Gylfi's passion for Iceland’s history, folklore, and geology was incredibly contagious, and he kept us laughing and entertained through the long drives. He went out of his way to make sure every single person in our small group was comfortable, safe, and having a blast. During our multi-day trip, Gylfi also recommended many hidden gems for lunches/dinners and toilet breaks that we never would have found on our own. If you get the chance to book a tour with Gylfi Thorisson in Troll , do it! Gylfi is an outstanding professional who can provide an exceptional guiding experience for you and your family . He truly made our 8 days trip in Iceland a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

Our trip around Iceland was definitely an experience to remember. Our guide, Thor, was exceptional. He was calm, patient, humorous, and knowledgeable. He knew the history and the tales of Iceland, and we enjoyed learning and laughing through him. Thor also knew the extra spots to see even among the planned stops. If we had taken the trip and planned it ourselves, we would have missed a lot of unknown side views and experiences that Thor knew. Remarkably, he knew the next day’s weather better than the weather apps, and was able to plan and switch stops and experiences to different days for a better opportunity. The country of Iceland is beautiful and unusual and a sight to see and experience. We were also able to see the northern lights on three different evenings when the weather was good. Do not expect five star hotels along the way because some of the places we stayed were more remote. However, we were provided with everything we needed for a good night’s sleep and breakfast. If you plan to go, book with Troll and Thor. The best and only way to experience Iceland!
