Newgrange is a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 3,200 BC. Newgrange entrance procedures are strictly first come first serve and you are currently required to pre-book tickets online. We will send you details on how to book once you've completed the booking with us.
The Hill of Tara. Best known as the seat of the High Kings of Ireland, the Hill of Tara was at the height of its power a political and religious center in the early centuries after Christ. Tara was believed by worshipers to be a dwelling place of the gods and an entrance to the world of eternal joy. Legend has it that Saint Patrick first traveled to Tara on his mission to Ireland. Hear all about Celtic High Kings along the way through stories told by your driving guide.
If time allows you may see the Monasterboice ruins are the remains of an early Christian monastic settlement in County Louth in Ireland, north of Drogheda. The ruins are a national monument of Ireland and also give their name to the local village.
If time allows you may see Mellifont Abbey. Mellifont Abbey, was a Cistercian abbey located close to Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland. It was the first abbey of the order to be built in Ireland. In 1152, it hosted the Synod of Kells-Mellifont. After its dissolution in 1539, the abbey became a private manor house
If time allows you may get to visit Four Knocks. This can be an alternative sight to Newgrange if you do not get to secure tickets for Newgrange. Fourknocks is a Passage Chamber Tomb built about 5000 years ago. It is located 10 miles southeast of Newgrange between Ardcath in County Meath and the Naul in County Dublin. Fourknocks has a short passage leading into a wide pear shaped chamber with three smaller offset chambers. The original roof was probably a wooden structure supported by a central pole. The current concrete roof was constructed in 1952 at the end of a 2 year excavation
If you extend your day with your guide you could go visit Slane Castle. Slane Castle is located in the village of Slane, within the Boyne Valley of County Meath, Ireland. The castle has been the family seat of the Conyngham family since it was built in the late 18th century, on land first purchased in 1703 by Brig.-Gen. Henry Conyngham.
Pass by: As this is a private guided tour your guide is always open to and will suggest some changes in the itinerary to suit your interests. Your tour duration will last approximately six hours. You can opt to stay on for further hours with your guide if you wish, for an extra cost. Just remember Newgrange is the star of the show but they are now keeping you in there for approx. 2 hours. We try our best to ensure you get the most out of your day in the 6 hours but please be aware that many of the other items on the list are optional if the time allows. Top activity of our trip highly recommended
The private car was meticulous and comfortable. Jim was an amazing guide, knew everything about Dublin and its surrounding areas and the history of all sites we visited. He accommodated changes to our itinerary to suit what we wanted to see most, and created the perfect day. He was clearly proud of his heritage, and made the day very enjoyable. Thank you Jim for your knowledge and hospitality. - Luiz, Ryan, and Colin.
Unforgettable Day in Bonye Valley
We had an amazing day with David touring the Bonye Valley. I was unable to secure tickets to Newgrange prior to the tour as they were sold out online, but David recommended we arrive at opening to see if there were any cancellations for the day and there were! The tickets were for noon, so he reconfigured our tour and took us to the Hill of Tara and an Bective Abbey and was an endless fountain of knowledge on both! When we returned to Newgrange we were in awe of the history and engineering- so glad we did not miss this! I cannot say enough about what a joy it was to have David as our tour guide. Between the rain for most of the day and not having advance tickets to Newgrange it could have been a disappointing day, but our tour far exceeded our expectations. Thank you David for an unforgettable experience and the true pleasure of your company for the day. We are grateful.
A very pleasurable day
Our driver, Eddie, was great! He had lots of interesting stories to tell He picked us up on time and took us to the sites we were most interested to see. All in all, it was a very enjoyable day.
