Totally recommend this tour
We had a great experience with our guide Godwin. He was very informative and knowledgeable. We got to see a lot of great places and God wouldn’t manage to time all of our arrivals just before the bigger buses arrived. I was injured midway through the tour, and Godwin went out of his way to make sure that I still enjoyed every part of the rest of the tour.
6 days summer tour. Best guide John! :)
This tour was truly one of the best I’ve ever been on. John, our guide, made the entire experience unforgettable. He is incredibly knowledgeable, wonderfully friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing Iceland’s history, landscapes, and hidden treasures. We have truly explored Iceland through his eyes :) I felt so well taken care of throughout the 6 days adventure, and I’m deeply grateful for everything he shared with us! Thank you John!
Good for the price you pay
Overall, my description of this tour is “good” for the price. We logged over 900 miles on this Ring Road tour. We saw a lot and got a good feel for the country. It was a lot of riding in the bus. I don’t think I realized it would be that many miles over 6 days. So prepare yourself. Bring snacks and things to do. I would have liked a more robust commentary during the tour from our guide. I felt like he was more of a driver who told us where we were stopping and how many minutes we had at each stop. With the exception of one place, he did not walk with us to answer questions or give more directions. He was nice, friendly and knowledgeable but there were so many missed opportunities to elevate the tour experience. It would have been nice to have an overall summary at the start of each day letting us know the timing of meals and options for meals. Breakfast had similar items each day, typical European breakfast. Lunch options were minimal on some days, i.e. gas station or grocery store. If you have food restrictions like gluten-free or vegetarian, it may be challenging to find food. I like healthy options and that wasn’t always possible. The food options were a disappointment on this tour. In all fairness, we were in some remote areas, so there may just be very limited options. Hotel accommodations were basic, 2 or 3 single beds in each room. 3 stars at best for the hotels but were clean. Bring a sleep mask and ear plugs for some locations if traveling in the summer. The excursions that we did were great. Fantastic guides who were enthusiastic and provided unique experiences.
Top experience with knowledgeable guides.
Our guide, Haffi (Hafpór), brought the island to life with many stories and typical Icelandic tales, making the trip very interesting. This was very helpful in getting to know the nature and history of Iceland in such a short time. We could choose songs on the minibus along the way. That was also great, thank you Haffi! It was very nice to visit so many different beautiful landscapes, glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, highlands, etc. The food was also very good! Likewise, the guides on the glacier and during whale watching were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of informative details. I was blown away by the beauty of Iceland! My criticism is that one had to get up early every day. It would have been nice to be able to sleep in once in a while. Perhaps a few fewer sights would have been enough. This way, one could perhaps do something outside of the group as well. All in all, it was very beautiful and recommendable!
Amazing Trip
We chose the six-day tour. The customer service was great leading up to the trip as I had many questions. The tour was very well organized and the vehicle was superior to those of many of the other companies we saw along the way. The tour guide Alex, shared his knowledge of the various sites and made extra stops which added to our enjoyment of the trip. The landscape of the south and east coast was particularity exciting. Edger, the guide for the ice caves, gave me the support and encouragement I needed to complete the activity. The incredible landscape was explained during the jeep ride to the site. I knew the glacier hike would be too much for me when I booked the trip. I was able to get to the viewing point which was spectacular.
