Explore the Heart of Provence in 5 Days
Experience the soul of Provence on a 5‑day small group journey starting from Aix‑en‑Provence, where every day brings new landscapes, villages, and stories to discover. From rolling vineyards and lavender‑lined roads to ancient Roman arenas and cliff‑top fortresses, you’ll follow a carefully crafted route through some of the region’s most beautiful and authentic sites.
Luberon Villages & Hilltop Views
You’ll travel through the Luberon, a patchwork of vineyards, orchards, and cypress‑framed country roads dotted with some of France’s most picturesque hilltop villages. Think ochre‑tinted lanes, stone houses with pastel shutters, shady squares, and sweeping viewpoints over the valley below. In these villages, you’ll have time to wander cobbled streets, browse local boutiques, step into tiny churches, and soak up the easy Provençal rhythm of café terraces and weekly markets.
Roman Arles & Van Gogh Landscapes
In Arles, you’ll step into the world of ancient Rome, walking among remarkably preserved monuments such as the Roman amphitheatre and classical stone streets that still shape the town today. This is also the Arles of Van Gogh, where sun‑washed façades, riverside promenades, and plane‑tree‑lined squares recall his most famous Provençal paintings. As you explore, you’ll feel the layers of history—from imperial Rome to the 19th‑century artists—overlapping in a compact, walkable city full of character.
Saint‑Rémy & Les Baux‑de‑Provence
The charming town of Saint‑Rémy‑de‑Provence welcomes you with narrow streets, fountains, and elegant façades that capture everyday Provençal life at its most authentic. Nearby, you’ll sense the Roman past again around the archaeological remains just outside town, set against rolling fields and olive groves that feel straight out of a postcard. A short drive away, the dramatic, medieval village of Les Baux‑de‑Provence rises from a rocky spur, with ruined castle walls, lookout terraces, and winding alleys that seem suspended between sky and stone. From the top, you’ll admire wide views over the Alpilles mountains and the plains below—one of Provence’s most striking panoramas.
Cassis, Calanques & the Mediterranean Coast
On the coast, you’ll discover the fishing port of Cassis, a colourful harbor framed by café terraces, pastel houses, and boats bobbing in the water. From here, a boat ride into the Calanques reveals a wilder side of Provence: soaring limestone cliffs, narrow rocky inlets, and hidden coves where turquoise water contrasts with the pale rock and green pines. As you glide along the coast, you’ll see secluded beaches and natural amphitheatres carved by sea and wind, offering some of the most memorable seascapes in southern France.
Vineyards, Landscapes & Provençal Atmosphere
Throughout the tour, you’ll pass through vineyard‑covered hills, olive groves, and fields that glow with seasonal colours—green vines, golden light, and in season, the soft purple of lavender‑lined roads. Stops at local wineries and countryside domains introduce you to the landscapes behind Provence’s wines, with time to stroll between vines and enjoy views towards distant villages and mountains. In every place you visit—whether a bustling market square, a quiet side street, or a high terrace above the valley—you’ll have moments to simply breathe in the Provençal atmosphere, hear cicadas, and watch daily life unfold at an unhurried pace.

Reviews
Great experience, guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Victor brought us around the different sites and showed us so many cool sites
Alex was the most experienced, knowledgeable, and chilled tour guide of all the 5 tour guides we experienced. We learned a lot from him about the culture, history, and geology of the region. He also provided great context to understand the regions' wines. This tour to Cassis and the calanques was beautiful and would get a 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that this expensive tour did not include lunch. The wine tasting was good but I had better in Bordeaux and it included lunch.
Matt was an awesome tour guide. His passion for D-day made the experience that much better. He was very knowledgeable. Even my children were glued to his every word. Great experience!

Additional information
This multi‑day Provence package is best for adult travelers who enjoy a blend of scenic villages, gentle walking, and a touch of wine rather than a purely wine‑focused trip. It suits couples, solo travelers, and small groups of friends who like the comfort of a small group, appreciate having logistics handled for them, and prefer not to drive. You should be comfortable with light physical activity, including walking on cobbled streets, slopes, and some stairs, spread across several hours each day.
