2 Hour Terror and Mural History Belfast taxi Private Tour

From$139
2 hours
Valentia Island, Ireland

Full description

This tour of Belfast with a black taxi driver who lived through the civil rights clash of The Troubles allows you to learn loads more about the city's complicated history than you would traveling on your own. Sit back in rapt attention to your driver's narration, as you visit the famous Belfast murals on Falls Road and Shankill Road, painted by ex-prisoners on both sides of the conflict. Hear four versions of the city's history: the British version, the Republican version, the Loyalist version, and the truth according to someone who lived through it. Listening to your guide's narrative helps you make sense of a tangled history that is complicated and difficult to understand for visitors. You'll also see photos and videos depicting the neighborhoods visited on the tour as they were at that time.

More than worth it!

Insightful, educational, emotional. Our guide John is a local and is so comfortable sharing stories, facts, and tumultuous history. We laughed and learned in comfort.

Black Taxi Tour

David C was an amazing tour guide. He really shared his personal experiences during the tour. He was incredibly fare in showing both sides of the Troubles and made a great effort to show the hope of the future. It’s a somber tour and visitors should make sure they’re respectful of what people in these neighborhoods experienced for 100 years. But also see the hope.

An absolute Must!

By far the best tour I’ve been on in the UK. Very informative and will help me write an important paper about it. My guide was actually shot during the Troubles, gave an equal and balanced view of both sides of the conflict, and showed me and talked to me about a lot of things the UK government doesn’t want the general international community to know. This is an essential tour for those who respect history or are involved in modern politics.

Educational and Insightful

This was a very thorough and engaging tour. My guide was great, and we got out several times to look at various things related to The Troubles. He did a good job explaining the conflict for someone completely unfamiliar with the history with no bias. I would highly suggest it. Bonus points for picking me up in front of my hotel.
