Traveler reviews
Nice lodge with very good value for money
Small but fine lodge with refreshing pool and new canopy course. The complex is lovingly maintained and offers a personal attention, in which personal concerns of the guests are addressed. Very competent guides and a delicious cuisine.
Lodge is great, tours are questionable
First off, a few pros The tour guide was amazing! The food was some of the best we’ve had the whole time in Peru. 10/10 The pool/rooms were great, lots of work going on when we were there, clean and fun lodge though! The couple that run the lodge are also very nice. The adventure park was a lot bigger then we thought it’d be! The cons, The “native village” is a huge tourism grab. They just have tables set up to sell you things. They are just locates putting on an act… So if your excited about that like we were, be aware your most likely going to be let down. They also take you to an animal park were the animals are kept in questionable situations.
Great experience
Everything was much better than we had thought, the activities were all as scheduled, the staff was very friendly and professional, super punctual and formal. Super recommended.
Fantastic Experience in a short amount of time
Great tour! We were met at our hotel then went to the office for pick-up in a tuk-tuk. We then took a boat to the lodge with several stops on the first day including animal park type places and a native tribe. Monkey island was a personal highlight! The lodge itself was nice, we had a room with a double bed, hammock, couple of chairs and wc + shower. There’s netting over the windows and a mosquito net over the bed but a few bugs still get in (I don’t think you could ever prevent this). The food was much better than expected. We had catfish for lunch on the first day. Scrambled eggs with breakfast with ham, cheese, jam and bread. I can’t remember what was for dinner, but lunch the following day was the traditions beef stir fry type dish. All the meals came with fruits etc for desert and there was also free water. I’m a big eater but the portions were sufficient for me which was a relief. On the nighttime we did a short walk around the grounds of the lodge to see the insects and wildlife. The following day we did a sunrise boat trip and saw pink dolphins. After this we came back and had a go at the zip line. I was a bit scared as I’m 6”3 and 100kg but I survived and in hindsight it was a lot of fun. We were worried about how much was on the itinerary but we managed to fit a lot in without feeling too rushed, we even had an hour or two in between some activities to have a relax/dip in the pool. The only 2 activities we didn’t get round to were fishing for piranhas or swimming in the Amazon. However, if there is an activity you really want to do, I got the impression they would be accommodating. The lodge has electricity between 6-11pm so a power bank is advised to keep your phone/camera charged up. My only slight gripe is the majority of animals we saw were captive/in enclosures. This allowed us to see a lot in a short space of time which was ideal. However, it would have felt a little more authentic if we could’ve done a bit more sightseeing in the wild. That being said, I did a brief walk around the lodge on my own during the day and saw monkeys, birds, tarantulas and a frog so there is plenty of wildlife to be seen. I’m summary I would 100% recommend the Avatar Amazon lodge.
