A really lovely morning. Thank you Tony we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Tony our guide was friendly and very informative. The walk was lovely and the weather beautiful. Lunch was nice. The rest of our group members were very friendly and nice to talk to.
Half day Pilgrim’s Walk
We really enjoyed the walk with Martina (who is a wealth of knowledge). Unfortunately it bucketed rain the whole time and had the weather been better we might have been able to pause longer at some of the sights especially Inch Abbey. Martina was very informative with a good sense of humour. The walk itself took us through beautiful countryside. I do think the lunch could be improved, the vegetable soup promised turned out to be French Onion soup which wasn’t to everyone’s taste even though we had worked up an appetite and the sandwiches could have been more generously filled and using not just the cheapest bread available. I don’t make these comments lightly but I feel they reflect more than just my view speaking with other pilgrims and I hope the restaurant will take this on board and upgrade it a little.
St Patrick’s Way
Having walked several routes of The Camino de Santiago, I was delighted to discover during these strange times, that there are superb pilgrim routes on my doorstep. Several weeks ago had the privilege of walking the 17 mile route that is St Patrick’s Way. Our guides, Martina and Elaine were very informative and enthusiastic as we walked around Downpatrick, Inch Abbey, the Quoile, Saul, Slieve Patrick and Struell Wells. We stopped off at various points of interest along the way and enjoyed a much needed lunch at Paddy’s Barn in Saul... another great find! I enjoyed it so much I got together with some more friends 3 weeks later and did the half day morning walk! Everyone I walked with on both occasions thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful pilgrimage. There is something for anyone who is interested in our rich history, beautiful countryside and engaging with people. Try it..I have no doubt you will be amazed!
1/2 Day Pilgrim’s Walk
This is a beautiful area to walk in. Martina and Elaine were great fun and looked after us very well, and they helped link the Christian heritage of this area to faith today.
Afternoon walk
My wife and I really enjoyed the whole experience. We initially planned to do the full day but ended up doing it in two parts as the rest of our group did not fancy doing it all in one day. There was a great atmosphere on the tour and excellent company with Martina and Elaine. Not only was it great to see the sites along the St Patrick's Way but it was wonderful to spend time with the others in the group. I would highly recommend this walk and I already know of others who are looking forward to doing it.
